Rev. Gary Howse and wife Randi

Getting to know a little about Rev. Gary Howse

Gary is the third son of Marshall and Mary Howse. Gary has two brothers, Benny and Bobby from Greenville.  He grew up in Greenville, Mississippi. Gary attended Greenville Public Schools until his graduation from Greenville High in 1970. He received a BA degree in Art from Berea College, Berea, Kentucky. Gary received his Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary.

Gary has worked as a graphic designer for different companies before entering the ministry. He was a Minister of Youth and Children at First United Methodist Church in Greenville, Mississippi. Gary has served as Senior Pastor at Moorhead UMC; Sunflower UMC; Ruleville UMC; Glendora UMC; Shaw UMC and Indianola Christ UMC before coming to Lauderdale United Methodist Church in June 2011.

Gary is married to his soul mate; Durranda “Randy”. Randy has taught in the RN Nursing Program for over twenty years at Mississippi Delta Community College and is now employed at Meridian Community College teaching in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Randy also helps with different ministries at the church.

Children: Nathan is married to Caroline and they just had the first grandson, Reed, born October 26, 2011. Nathan teaches kindergarten in Conway, Ark. Mary-Phillip is married to Captain Tim O’Connell and they are station at Little Rock Air Force Base. Marshall is enrolled in the Nursing Program at University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Gary is an Elder in the Mississippi United Methodist Conference. He enjoys meeting new friends and keeping old friends. Gary’s hobbies include painting, drawing, reading and riding bicycles. He enjoys being with family and friends. Gary enjoys serving Christ and is excited about serving Christ at Lauderdale United Methodist Church.
